CRS Leader Dr. Clemensia Nakabiito and the HPTN 104 study team attended an awareness meeting on the Community Regulatory Accountability Committee (CRAC) held on 30th April 2025 at Eureka Palace Hotel, Ntinda.
Convened by Ruth Akulu, Executive Director of HopeStone Insights Uganda, the meeting introduced potential CRAC members to the committee’s role in promoting timely, community-led approval of the Dual Prevention Pill (DPP) and other Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (MPTs).
Participants heard global updates on DPP research from Kate Segal of AVAC, and insights on Uganda’s regulatory process from Dr. Yazzid Kakembo of the National Drug Authority.
As a CRAC member, MU-JHU will contribute technical insights to ensure that the DPP regulatory process is transparent, responsive, and grounded in research on the adherence and acceptability of DPP by adolescent girls and young women.
