MU-JHU Care Ltd is proud to participate in the Makerere University Research and Innovations Week, running from 8th–10th April 2025 at Freedom Square. The event brings together over 100 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge research and innovation aimed at transforming lives and shaping the future.

A highlight from MU-JHU’s exhibit is the PURPOSE 1 study, led by Dr. Flavia Matovu Kiweewa, our Director of Research. This study is investigating Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly injectable for HIV prevention, with the potential to revolutionize prevention efforts, especially in high-burden regions like Sub-Saharan Africa.

The event was officially opened by H.E. the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who visited several stalls, including ours. When Dr. Kiweewa presented her findings, the President responded with interest, asking, “Is it a prophylaxis?” The team replied in unison with a confident “Yes!”—a moment that affirmed the clarity and impact of our message.

We are proud of Dr. Kiweewa for her outstanding representation of MU-JHU and our commitment to impactful, evidence-based healthcare solutions. Her participation underscores the importance of collaboration between academia, science, and government in addressing public health challenges.

Congratulations to Dr. Kiweewa and the entire MU-JHU team on a powerful showcase at Makerere University’s Research and Innovations Week 2025.
