Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health Student – Dr. Andrew Kimera who has won the MU-JHU Founders Award as the best Department of Paediatrics and Child Health student of 2020/3 .
The announcement was made this morning, 23rd August 2023 during a special senior staff meeting and award ceremony at Makerere University College of Health Science. Dr. Kimera is the first recipient of this award for his hard work and excellence during residency.
“We commend you for your hard work and excellence during residency. MU-JHU is glad to grant you the Founders Award, to enable you to attend an international conference and present your research findings,” said Prof. Philippa Musoke, Executive Director of MU-JHU Care Ltd. The award was handed to him by MU-JHU’s co-founder Prof. Brooks Jackson and MU-JHU Executive Director Prof. Philippa Musoke. The award covers the cost of the airfare (ticket), registration fees, accommodation, and per diem.MU-JHU Care Limited is a long-term partner of the College of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, Makerere University, and the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
About the Award
The Annual MU-JHU Founders Award was initiated by the founding investigators from Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Baltimore, and Makerere University, Kampala. The award was created to support a postgraduate student in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Makerere University with excellent performance; to attend an international scientific conference and share their research findings.
